HISTORY

A detailed timeline explaining to you everything about Apple's history.

1977

Apple is born, and they soon create the first Apple computer. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniack are pictured at left soon after Apple is opened. Below is Apple's original logo.

1984

 

The first Macintosh (now called the iMac) is released, which was an all-in-one computer. The computer came with a disk drive, mouse, and keyboard. It also sported Apple's second logo, the first being shown above.

1986-1996

 

Steve Jobs leaves Apple and creates NeXT and Pixar, a famous movie-making company. Steve Jobs is re-hired in December 1996.

Steve Jobs becomes CEO of Apple once again. In

addition, the "Think Different" campaign is created to help the struggling Apple brand. The video below is an ad for the campaign.

1997

1989-1994

While Steve Jobs was working away from Apple, the Macintosh Portable, the Powerbook, and the Power Macintosh were introduced.

1998

Apple released the iMac, an all-in-one computer meant to update the Macintosh.

2001-2003

In 2001, the first iPod was introduced. It was the first music player of its kind. In 2003, the iTunes Store is introduced. Through the iTunes Store, you easily buy and download music fast. From 2001-2003, you had to download music from a CD.

2006

The Macbook Pro and iMac introduced in 2006 are the first Macs to use Intel chips.

2007

The first iPhone is launched, making Apple the most advanced phone provider of that time.

2010

The first iPad is launched. This was the first device of its kind.

2011

The iPhone 4S is released. This happens about 1 month after Steve Jobs resigned. The phone is released on Oct. 4. Steve Jobs dies Oct. 5.
